There are many great organizations, facilities and programs serving the homeless in Colorado. Listed below are those groups that Homeless Gear currently supports with gear donations throughout the year as our supply allows. While we distribute a significant amount of the gear we collect directly to the homeless these wonderful organizations help us reach out to those in need in the communities they serve. Please see our web page “drop off locations” for those locations that accept direct donations of gear. Otherwise don’t hesitate to contact us for advice on the best location for your donation.

Every day, Springs Rescue Mission reaches out to the hungry and homeless, working poor, and addicted in Colorado Springs. We provide free meals, emergency food and clothing, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, education, career advancement, and spiritual training.

Sox Place is a daytime drop-in center for street youth. These range in ages from 12 to 30 and belong to the youth sub-culture known as “street kids.” Many have been abandoned by parents/guardians, some are victims of the foster care system, and most have been tossed aside by society. Addictions to drugs, alcohol, violence, and sex are a part of their everyday lives. Most are just trying to survive! A hot meal and a safe place is provided Monday through Saturday. There are activities such as movies, video games, foosball, pool and ping pong to entertain the youth during their time at Sox Place. Staff and volunteers spend their time interacting with the youth and building friendships in order to provide healthy and constructive relationships.

Urban Peak helps young people overcome homelessness and other real life challenges by providing safety, respect, essential services and a supportive community, empowering them to become self-reliant adults. In Denver, Street Outreach Counselors can be seen around various places Downtown, such as the 16th Street Mall, Civic Center Park, Colfax, and different parts of the Federal Corridor, Five Points and Montbello neighborhoods. They are available to talk and can help you with basic needs, referrals, resources, food and health screening, and can help you reach family members. They can also help you get to Urban Peak’s Denver shelter for other services such as free food, a place to sleep, showers, clothing, case managers, job counseling, doctor appointments, education programs and help finding housing. If you are older than 21 or younger than 15, they can still help you find a shelter or similar organization that help people in your age group. .

St. Francis Center provides a safe place for people who are homeless to meet their basic needs for day-to-day survival (shelter, showers, storage, meals, phones, health clinic, mental health counselor) while offering them assistance to transition out of homelessness (employment, housing, substance abuse group, access to social worker).

The Gathering Place is a refuge for rebuilding lives. MISSION STATEMENT: The Gathering Place exists to support women and their children who are experiencing homelessness or poverty by providing a safe daytime refuge and resources for self-sufficency. The Gathering Place is Denver’s only daytime drop-in center for women and children who are experiencing homelessness and poverty in Denver.
Our emergency support services provide immediate relief to women and children in distress. Women who are able to meet their immediate and urgent needs can then collect their inner resources and make positive life changes for themselves and their children.

The Murphy Center serves people who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless by bringing together collective expertise of local service providers. We accomplish this by assisting people to attain stability, self sufficiency and by addressing the issues faced by homeless people. We strive to create an atmosphere of warmth, compassion and understanding and we welcome you to visit our center. The Murphy Center is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The Murphy Center also serves as the location for Homeless Gear’s monthly gear distribution which is held the third Thursday of every month at 1 PM.

The Vineyard Resource Center is the heart of our outreach to the community. We provide clothes, food and personal items to those who find themselves under-resourced. Raven’s Cafe – Last Saturday of Each Month – Raven’s Cafe is an outreach where we provide the homeless with breakfast, travel kits, clothing and other personal items. We invite you to come help serve the homeless of Fort Collins. We meet at the Vineyard Resource Center @ 7:30 am for preparations we then go to Jefferson Park (across from the Open Door Mission). TASC began in the late 70’s as a way to bring about communication between substance abuse treatment providers and the criminal justice system to ensure a continuum of care was in place for people returning home from incarceration. Colorado programs began in 1988. Since that time TASC has expanded its model to meet the needs of ex-offenders and the criminal justice system.
TASC is a community-based case management program for parolees that serves as a bridge between the criminal justice system and the community. Parole refers offenders living in the community to Peer Assistance Services, Inc. for case management services. All TASC case managers meet the same background requirements as DOC employees.

Thanks to the Feed My Sheep Ministry for the Homeless, many now have a place to go to get out of the cold, get something to eat and just hang their hat and relax.
Four years ago, Karolyn Spencer of New Castle started Feed My Sheep out of a room at the Silver Spruce Motel in Glenwood Springs. The program has grown and now occupies the entire basement floor of what used to be St. Stephen’s Catholic Church at 10th and Grand Avenue.
“We have three times as much space,” Spencer said proudly. “We moved in on June 1, 2006, and it’s beautiful. We’ve got laundry facilities, and there is computer service available, a phone and a bathroom with a shower.”

Guadalupe Shelter in Greeley is the only emergency shelter in Weld County. The 36-bed facility is open from 7PM to 7AM 365 days a year. There are separate areas for single men, single women, and families with children. The shelter also provides shower facilities, and breakfast and evening meals, job referrals and advocacy are available to shelter residents. Call (970) 353-3720 for more information.

HOPE is a year-round street outreach program working to ensure the survival of the unsheltered homeless in the Longmont community. Outreach volunteers provide the homeless with food, coats, hats, gloves, clothing, sleeping bags and transports to emergency shelters when available. Volunteers educate homeless individuals about presently existing social services and help them overcome barriers of access. HOPE also provides assistance accessing transitional housing and moving toward self-sufficiency.
