Homeless Gear and our Children In Need program are always looking for individuals or groups to organize a drive to collect outdoor gear, clothing, and hygiene items (see the product donations page of this site for a detailed list of the items we collect and distribute) to benefit the homeless of Colorado.  These items can be collected from within a church, neighborhood, business, scout troop, classroom, association or any other group with which you might have a connection.  We can work with you to customize a drive to fit your available time and energy.  Please call Ken John at 970-581-4921 or e-mail Ken@HomelessGear.com for more details.

We also have a variety of regularly scheduled monthly “events” for which we can always use volunteers of all ages.

• REI Gear Collections: This event happens on the first Saturday of every month at the REI store located at 4025 S. College Avenue in Fort Collins.  Two shifts are available 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  Call Ken John at 970-581-4921 with questions or to sign up for this event.
• Monthy Gear Distributions:  We invite anyone who is interested to come and help us distribute gear at one of our two monthly distribution events.
  • Homeless Families and Children (Children In Need program):  Second Saturday of every month from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Murphy Center in Fort Collins.  Call Heidi Hood 970-631-1708 with questions or to sign up to volunteer for this event.
  • Homeless Adults–Fort Collins:  Third Thursday of every month from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Murphy Center For Hope located at 242 Conifer Street (corner of Conifer and Blue Spruce).  Call Ken John at 970-581-4921 with questions or to sign up for this event.
• Gear and Clothing Sorting:  We hold two sorting events each month in order to process and organize all of our donations.
  • One sorting event is at the Murphy Center for Hope on the second Tuesday of every month from 6 PM to 8 PM.  The Murphy Center is located on the corner of Blue Spruce and Conifer (near JAX Surplus on North College).  If you want to sign up for this event call Sue Peterson at 970-631-4317.
  • One sorting event is at our Warehouse on the forth Saturday of every month from 9 AM to 11:00 AM.  Our warehouse is located in the Southwest part of Fort Collins at 802 West Drake Road (just north of the Columbine Cafe).  If you could like to sign up for this event call Heidi Hood at 970-631-1708.

We are also looking for individuals to join the HG and CIN team of ongoing volunteers.  If you have a desire to work with HG to help the homeless here is a list of things that would be very helpful with any amount of time, energy, interest, and experience that you might have available.  Many of these items can be done from your home or office and most can be done at any time your schedule permits.
